The Nong Ming Salt and Pepper Shaker brings two finely modeled figures to the dining table in a sculptural pewter pairing. Flowing robes, expressive faces, and small accessories give each shaker a distinctive silhouette. The shared silvery finish ties the set together, allowing the differences in posture, clothing, and held objects to provide the decorative interest.
The detailed forms introduce an antique-style ornamental character without needing a bright palette or elaborate surrounding arrangement. Against plain dishes and softly woven linen, the raised details become easier to appreciate at close range. The two different silhouettes create the interest here, giving the pair a small sense of interaction that is easiest to appreciate when the surrounding tableware remains plain and uncluttered.
Keep the pair together where diners can see the individual details, leaving nearby serving pieces understated. Warm wood and simple white ceramics offer an especially calm backdrop for the pewter. The figures bring character to a practical pairing, with their individual details supplying the interest rather than an elaborate surrounding display.
